YLA Committee Lunch & Learn

On March 17, 2026, the PTAB Bar Association’s Young Lawyers & Agents Committee held an in-person event at Georgetown Law School in Washington, DC as part of the Lunch & Learn Series.  The program examined What is the PTAB? and explored an overview of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), discussed the basics of proceedings at the PTAB, and provided advice for junior practitioners interested in PTAB practice.  The discussion was geared toward junior associates and law students, but all were welcome to join. The panelists included Kristi Sawert, Former APJ; Jackie Wright Bonilla, Former APJ; and Amee Shah, BenchView Consulting.  The program was moderated by Mike Milea, Groombridge, Wu, Baughman & Stone LLP.

Logged-in members of the PTAB Bar Association can access the slide deck from this presentation at the following members-only link: YLA Committee Lunch & Learn: What is the PTAB?

About the PTAB Bar Association
The PTAB Bar Association is a voluntary bar association of over 700 members, most of whom are in private and corporate practice. Members represent a broad spectrum of individuals, companies, and institutions involved in practice before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (“PTAB”) of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (“USPTO”) and in patent, administrative, and appellate law more generally.  The Association is dedicated to helping secure the just, speedy, and inexpensive resolution of every PTAB proceeding, and serves as an avenue for constructive dialogue between the bar community, the PTAB, and other stakeholders.
